Grand Plateau Lodge is right in the heart of many of the greatest national and state parks that southern Utah has to offer. Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park are just north of Kanab and are easy to access from Grand Plateau Lodge. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Grand Staircase National Monument, and Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness Area are just south of Kanab and are also easy to get to from Grand Plateau Lodge. Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is an amazing state park just a short drive from Kanab.
There are many great state and national parks in the Kanab area to explore, but there are countless other remote trails and recreation areas to explore for those people that like to get off the beaten path and explore more secluded areas. White Pocket is an area just south of Kanab that has beautiful rock formations and scenery and is much quieter and more secluded than the national and state parks. Toadstools is just off the highway but is usually quiet and does not get much attention from visitors. The rock formations and hoodoos are great for children of all ages to explore and hike in. Slot canyons abound in the area and with just a little bit of driving on dirt roads you can find slot canyons that are spectacular to explore and have little or no crowds.
Southern Utah national parks are some of the most amazing rock formations and red rock scenery in the world. It is easy to see why it has become a popular travel destination. There is some of the national parks that have become famous, and those national parks are great places to go and visit. If you prefer the quiet places off the beaten path there are still plenty of those areas left in southern Utah if you do a little research and are willing to explore.
