Kanab is a beautiful area of Utah to explore and vacation any time of the year, but we especially love the fall, winter, and early spring. During this time of year the daytime temperatures are miled and it is about the perfect weather for being outdoors riding on OHVs, hiking and visiting national parks. Southern Utah has endless trails, canyons, and national parks. In this blog we will share some of our favorites surrounding the Kanab area where families can play and explore while they stay in Kanab.
Northwest of Kanab about 45 minutes in the east entrance of Zion National Park. During the winter months the crowds have died down and Zion is much quieter. It is a great time of year to explore this spectacular national park and to enjoy the world-famous red rock scenery found in the canyons and red cliffs. This is a great opportunity for families to explore Zion National Park as one of their days staying in Kanab.
Southeast of Kanab is a beautiful area of desert known as the Vermillion Cliffs and Coyote Buttes National Monument. The redrock formations and slot canyons in this area are spectacular and there are many square miles of desert to explore by OHV or by foot. The Wave and White Pocket are too of the most beautiful sandstone formations in Utah and are both located in this area. Buckskin Gulch is also located in this area and one of the longest and deepest slot canyons in the world. It is an amazing canyon for families to hike and explore and is one of the most spectacular canyons in the world to see. Families also love to play on the hoodoos and rock formations just off the highway in an area called Toadstools. This is a fun area for families with small children and an easy place to access for families staying in Kanab.
Bryce Canyon National Park is north of Kanab about an hour. This amazing national park has some of the most spectacular red rock formations and gorgeous scenery in the western United States. It is easy to access this beautiful national park and is great for families with children. There are amazing viewpoints and easy hikes among the red rock pinnacles. The blue sky, red rock formations, and white winter snow makes Bryce Canyon National Park one of our favorite winter destinations near Kanab.
