Spring has arrived at Grand Plateau Lodge and RV Resort. April through July is a wonderful time around Kanab with beautiful weather and amazing recreation opportunities in the area. In this blog post we will discuss some of the great recreation opportunities around Kanab in the spring and summer months.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is just up the road from Kanab and is an amazing area for families to explore and enjoy while spending time in Kanab. Small children will enjoy playing on the sand dunes, sledding, and sand boarding. Older children and adults will love exploring the sand dunes on OHVs and dirt bikes. Families will find the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park one of the best places in southern Utah to spend a day riding their OHVs or dirt bikes.

South of Kanab there are some beautiful slot canyons that are amazing to explore in the spring and summer months. Buckskin Gulch and Paria Canyon are some of the most spectacular and longest slot canyons in the world. These slot canyons can be a day hike where groups see just a portion of the canyon, or a multiple day hike to see the entire length of the canyon. There is also a slot canyon down by Page, Arizona called Antelope Canyon that is great for families with small children. You are required to have a guide to hike this canyon and there are a few guide services that you can hire to take you into this magnificent canyon.

Families that want to explore Native American ruins and petroglyphs will find many around the Kanab area. Just north of Kanab is Moqui Cave, which is a great area for families with small children to see some Native American artifacts and ruins as well as explore some caves. A few miles south of Kanab is Johnson Canyon, which has some great ruins and caves to explore.

There are also many national parks in the area and families that want to visit national parks can easily drive to Zion and Bryce Canyon National Park north of Kanab. Families can also drive to the north rim of the Grand Canyon and see this majestic canyon while they explore the Kanab area.

We hope to see your family in Kanab this spring and summer for some outdoor adventures!
