Kanab is a great place to escape during the winter. The mild daytime temperatures and the endless red rock canyons and sand dunes make it an ideal location to get outside and enjoy time with family. There are many national and state parks surrounding the Kanab area and they are all open and have little or no snow and mild weather in the wintertime.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is located just north of Kanab and is a great place to spend time with family in the winter. The sand dunes are one of the best areas in the country to ride ATVs in sand and people come from all over to experience the fun of riding through these pink sand dunes. There are also lots of great hikes around the sand dunes and children have fund playing and sledding down the dunes.
The Vermillion Cliffs National Monument is just south of Kanab on the Utah and Arizona border and is a beautiful area of sandstone formations and spectacular cliffs and canyons. This is a great place to hike for families and groups and can be an incredibly quiet, peaceful place in the winter to get out and enjoy quiet recreation with your friends and family.
The Grand Plateau Lodge in Kanab is the perfect location for families to get together to enjoy this winter recreation. The private pool and hot tub as well as the theatre room and ping pong table provides fun in the evening and night when you get back from exploring the endless canyons and sand dunes around Kanab.
