Winter in Kanab is a beautiful time of year and it is a great location for families to vacation in Utah during the winter months. In this blog we will discuss some of our favorite things to do around Kanab during the winter months.
Bryce Canyon National Park just north of Kanab is beautiful any month of the year, but in the winter months with the white snow on the red sandstone pinnacle formations it is spectacular and makes for some of the most amazing scenery and photography of the year.
Zion National Park is one of the most famous national parks in the United States, but in the winter months it is much less crowded, and most trails are quiet and peaceful. The massive canyon walls and beautiful Virgin River are gorgeous in the winter months and the snow clinging to the red sandstone makes for some spectacular scenery.
Just southeast of Kanab are some of the most spectacular canyons in the world. Buckskin Gulch and Paria Canyon are two of the longest and deepest slot canyons in the United States. They are both easy to get to from Kanab and families can hike just a portion of them or the whole canyon if they are feeling up to an all-day adventure.
Nearby Kanab are also some amazing areas for families with children. Just north of Kanab is the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. It is an amazing area for children to play on sand dunes and ride down the dunes on sand boards or ATVs. South of Kanab about 45 minutes is a great area just off the highway called Toadstools. Families can play and climb around the formations and enjoy the unique structures.
Kanab is a great area for a winter vacation in southern Utah. We hope to see you and your family this winter in Kanab! Plan your next winter Grand Plateau Lodge stay now!
