Kanab is an amazing area of Utah that has more state and national parks surrounding it than any other area of Utah. It has incredible amounts of remote areas for hiking, biking, and OHV riding. There are amazing red rock formations, striking slot canyons, sand dunes, and spectacular remote dirt roads to explore. In this blog we will share some of our favorite areas around Kanab for visitors to explore.

North of Kanab is Bryce Canyon National Park. Bryce Canyon is famous for its red rock formations, hoodoos, and amazing scenic views of sandstone pinnacle formations. Bryce Canyon National Park has many great hikes through the pinnacle and red rock formations. It also has some great scenic lookouts for those visitors that have limited mobility.

Zion National Park is an amazing natural area that has become one of the most famous national parks in the world. Travelers come from all over the world to see the gorgeous red rock slot canyons and formations. The Virgin River flows through the park carves the Zion narrows that is a magical slot canyon full of amazing formations and beautiful colors. Zion National Park is 40 minutes northeast of Kanab and is easy to get to from Grand Plateau Lodge.

East of Kanab about 40 miles is one of the most spectacular slot canyons in the world called Buckskin Gulch. It is about a 19-mile slot canyon that can be explored and enjoyed by both avid hikers and families. It is right on the edge of the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument and Coyote Buttes that have some spectacular rock formations such as the Wave and White Pocket.

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park is south of Kanab about 80 miles. Grand Canyon National Park is one of the most magnificent canyons in the world and is an amazing sight to enjoy with your family. It is a great day trip to take while you are in Kanab and families with children will love to see this amazing national park.
