Grand Plateau Lodge is a beautiful location to spend some time with family or friends while you explore the national and state parks around Kanab. One of the best times of the year is late winter and early spring. This is a great time of year when the daytime temperatures are mild and there are very little crowds in most of the state and national parks around Kanab. Weekends in February and March are a great time to get down to Kanab and explore the amazing canyons and national parks in this area. In this blog we will discuss some of our favorite things to do around Kanab in late winter.
Just north of Kanab is Zion National Park. This national park is one of the most famous national parks in the United States for good reason. Sometimes of the year Zion National Park can be very crowded, but in February and March it is relatively quiet. It is a great time of year to come and enjoy the park without the crowds and is also a great time to see water cascading off some of the huge red rock cliffs. This is a wet time of year in this area of Utah and it is your best chance of the year to see some beautiful waterfalls and get the rare experience of seeing large red rock waterfalls in the southwest.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is a great area for families to have a lot of fun. Older children love to ride ATVs on the sand dunes and younger children love to play in the sand and ride sand sleds down the dunes. In the summer months the dunes are hot and there is no shade. In the late winter and spring the weather is mild and with a jacket families can enjoy these amazing sand dunes for the day without getting too hot. There are many hikes around Kanab that are amazing canyons and sandstone formations and the late winter is a great time to do many of these hikes while the daytime temperatures are mild and the busy season has not started yet.
We hope to see you this February and March for a Kanab family vacation! Find out our rates and availability for February and March on our reservations page.
