Families love to gather in Kanab for family vacations and family gatherings. Zion National Park is a must-see national park for every family. It is an amazing national park just north of Kanab and is wonderful to visit any month of the year. The summer is beautiful weather and families can enjoy playing in the water of the Virgin River and exploring the Zion Narrows. The fall and winter are both beautiful and provide unique colors and scenery. The autumn colors are spectacular along the Virgin River and the snow-covered sandstone during the winter months create some beautiful scenery and photo opportunities.
Families also need to visit the Coral Pink Sand Dunes while staying in Kanab. The Coral Pink Sand Dunes are an amazing area just north of town that has massive sand dunes for families to play on. Families with older children will enjoy bringing their ATVs and driving on the sand dunes. Families with young children will enjoy sand sledding and boarding and playing on the sand dunes.
Just south of Kanab is the longest narrows canyon in the United States called Buckskin Gulch. Families that want an all-day adventure can hike much of this long canyon and spend most of the day exploring this spectacular canyon and enjoying the massive red-rock cliffs on each side of the canyon. Families that have small children can enjoy a shorter hike by starting at the Wire Pass Trailhead and hiking into the canyon about 1 mile and enjoying the canyon views with just a short hike.
In 2023 families should plan to visit Bryce Canyon National Park. North of Kanab, Bryce Canyon is an easy drive from Kanab and much like Zion National Park it is an amazing place to visit any month of the year. The summer is great weather and long days for seeing the many sights in this spectacular national park. In the fall the autumn colors are beautiful and provide some unique and beautiful scenery. The winter months also provide unique scenery with the snow on the red rock formations and blue skies. Some of the most iconic photographs of Bryce Canyon National Park are taken during the winter months.
